The Tourist Trap began back in the early 1990’s as a souvenir shop located at the Fort in McHenry, Maryland. After moving to its current location in the mid-1990’s, it has been the place to stop for all those treasured souvenirs from a Deep Creek Lake vacation.

In late 2013, the Shafer family welcomed the opportunity to acquire the store from the original owners, the Kessler’s. Since that time, we have changed a few things like expanding the selection of apparel designs and introducing many new gift and souvenir items over the years.

With over 40 years of retail experience, our staff strives to keep the shelves fully stocked and addition of new items with every season. We work diligently to provide quality souvenir apparel, and we are always willing to help find that special memento from Deep Creek Lake.
